Abstract
The objectives to be achieved in this study are to find out about the application of interfaith marriage in Indonesia and its relation to human rights, especially in terms of freedom in building a household in legal marriages but of different religions. The approach method used in this research is a normative approach. This type of research is normative. The results of the study show that interfaith marriage is an undeniable social fact in the pluralistic country of Indonesia. The fact in people's lives that interfaith marriages occur as a reality that cannot be denied. In practice, many couples want to live together but there is no marriage because they are based on different religions or faiths. This fact becomes a problem for the perpetrators because their marital status is often not recorded or does not receive recognition from the state. In Indonesia, marriage recognition is carried out by the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA), which functions to record the marriage of couples who are both Muslim. Meanwhile, the Population and Civil Registry Service (DKCS) functions to register marriages among non-Muslims, such as Christians, Catholics, Hindus and Buddhists and Confucians. This also shows that human rights sensitivity in the case of interfaith marriages in Indonesia does not yet exist.
