Abstract
Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) has the ability to provide high torque to current ratio, high power to weight ratio, high efficiency and good resistance. Because of these advantages PMSM is commonly used in the latest versions of variable speed AC drivers, especially in electric car applications. PMSM is the best choice of motor for use in electric car applications. In this paper, PMSM is designed with specifications 80 kW, 8 poles with a maximum speed of 10.000 rpm and torque 254 Nm. This paper also discusses the theoretical design of PMSM for electric cars. Efficiency Map is used to determine the efficiency of the magnetic material used, to find out which magnetic material has better performance. The impact parameter that is focused on is the magnetic material used. The application of magnets with Neodymium material produces an efficiency of 92,8 %. And a magnet with ceramic material (ferrite magnet) produces an efficiency of 79 %. PMSM design is designed with ANSYS Motor CAD software.
