Abstract

This research is: 1) To find out what difficulties are faced by students in beginning reading in Indonesian language subjects in class I, 2) To find out the inhibiting factors of students in beginning reading, 3) To find out solutions for initial reading difficulties in class I SDIT Harapan Bunda Tongo, West Sumbawa Regency. This type of research is qualitative with a phenomenological design. Sources of primary research data were obtained through observation techniques, documentation and interviews with school principals, teachers and students. Relevant previous research, journals, articles, and books related to early reading were used as secondary data sources. Test the validity of the data in this study using triangulation of sources and techniques. The data analysis technique consists of three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the findings 1) The difficulties experienced by students because there are still many students who have not memorized the letters of the alphabet and also students who cannot distinguish letters in learning activities are still many students who have difficulty reading. 2) Factors that can hinder students with reading difficulties are internal factors and external factors. 3) The teacher's efforts in overcoming initial reading difficulties are to provide input or motivation, approach well, and guide those who have difficulty reading with good body language. Not only that, the teacher also tries to create a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere because the first grade students are beginning, 3) To find out solutions for beginning reading difficulties in class I, SDIT Harapan Bunda Tongo, West Sumbawa Regency, is not yet interested in studying seriously but learning while playing will be easier understood by students.
