Abstract
A raft foundation applied on the soil that has low bearing capacity or load that will be resisted is quite big, so that more than 50 percent of area covered by conventional pad footing. The 5 floors and 1 basement rusun building that build in Sleman, Yogyakarta has an area 1119.6 m2. To support the loads, it is necessary to plan the dimensions of the foundation and the need for sufficient reinforcement. This foundation design is included the dimension of raft foundation based on N-SPT, loading calculation analysis, bearing capacity analysis, settlement analysis using conventional method, and settlement analysis using PLAXIS 3D. The objective of this research is to calculate the bearing capacity and settlement of the soil due to the structure load of the building that is constructed above the soil, and to know if the raft foundation that will be designed can resist the building, also to proven that the analysis using PLAXIS 3D is compatible with manual calculation. Based on the analysis using SAP2000 software, the resultant axial load column is 87374.964 kN, with the analysis of the raft foundation, the maximum load received is 142.404 kN. The bearing capacity of the soil from N-SPT value is 957.5221 kN/m2. The dimensions of the raft foundation are same with the basement area which is 671.746 m2, with the thickness 1.0 m. Total settlement due to structure load that analyze using manual method is 9.53 mm, meanwhile the total settlement that analyze using PLAXIS 3D is 11.7 mm. The settlement result from both method is still safe, because it still has not reached the maximum settlement for raft foundation on sand soil which is in 50 mm.
