Abstract

Arabic is a foreign language that is difficult to master, for some people learning a new language with all the language arrangements, spelling, conjunctions and other rules that are difficult not easy. This can be seen from several things behind it as an educational institution that not only teaches diniyah education but also teaches formal education which aims so that students can also learn like studying in educational institutions outside the cottage. By using the modern word, education is more focused on improving the maharahs of the Arabic language. This study aims to find out how learning efforts in improving Arabic speakingof students at the Ta'mirul Islam Modern Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta and find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in improving the Arabic Mahāratul kalām. This research is a qualitative research with a case study approach conducted at Ta'mirul Islam Modern Islamic Boarding School in Surakarta. The method of collecting research data usies observation, interviews and documentation. Miles and Huberman’s model data analysis technique consist of three paths, namely data reduction, data presentation, and finally withdrawal conclusion or verification. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that the efforts of the Modern Islamic Boarding School Ta'mirul Islam Surakarta in improving Arabic speaking skills include formal education activities, namely holding Arabic lessons such as Nahwu, Sorof, Balaghoh, Tafsir, Tajwid, Fiqh, Tamrin lughoh, Mutola' Ah, Mahfudzot, who can support Santri to speak Arabic fluently, and non-formal education activities include holding Muhadastah activities, holding Muhadhoroh activities, requiring Santri to use the official language, conducting supervision, applying discipline and coordinating. The supporting factors of the Modern Ta'mirul Islamic Islamic Boarding School Surakarta include: learning objectives, teachers, environment, students and methods, while inhibiting factors such as: inadequate facilities and infrastructure, monotonous delivery of methods, individual factors of students.
