Abstract

Diesel engine is a type of internal combustion engine that uses the heat of compression to create ignition and burn the fuel that has been injected into the combustion chamber. This analysis aims to determine the damage to the piston diesel engine on the CATERPILLAR 920 BASIC wheel loader unit. The inspection procedure is carried out visually on the CATERPILLAR 920 BASIC diesel engine wheel loader, then analyze the type of damage to the diesel engine piston and the factors causing damage to the CATERPILLAR 920 BASIC wheel loader diesel engine piston. The results of the analysis of damage to the diesel engine piston, damage to the piston ring, wear and tear on the piston due to delays in changing engine oil due to lack of oil can cause lubrication to the components to be disrupted. Repair steps are carried out by replacing damaged components. Preventive actions are carried out by carrying out daily inspections and preventive maintenance according to procedures.
