Abstract
This studi aims to explain the masculinity of an overseas band called “One Direction” with five personel included in it. This study discusses twi sides of masculinity, namely metrosexual masculinity and soft masculinity. This research is a qualitative study that describes the masculine signs in “One Direction’s” personel in several document through their song videos. Data collection was obtained through videos shows showing body shapes that are considered to meet the requirements of both metrosexual and soft masculine masculine. Then from these impressions are documentes. Thir research analysis uses Rholand Bartes’theory to find the meaning that exist in masculinity trough connotatin and denotation. The result of the discussion show that “One Direction” personel have a side of metrosexual masculinity with the presence of tattoos on the body, a muscular body and broad chest, have a firm face with facial hair, there are also personnel who display their soft smiles but look still masculine, their hairstyles order, and the way they dress.
