Abstract

Background: Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is a syndrome characterized by limited movement of the shoulder which is usually painful in the early stages. Frozen shoulder is an idiopathic condition with unknown causes including changes in the supporting structures of the surrounding shoulder and endocrine or other systemic diseases. Traction is a translational movement of bone that is perpendicular to and away from the therapeutic plane. Research Objectives: To review studies related to the effect of traction manipulation on complaints of frozen shoulder pain. Research Methods: This type of research uses the literature review method, which is a research method whose purpose is to collect and extract the essence and analyze from several articles, journals and books from previous research. Results: Based on 7 scientific articles it was found that the application of manual therapy can overcome frozen shoulder and from this study has no bias in the application of manipulation traction applications in the case of frozen shoulder. Conclusion: the average intervention for traction manipulation, namely therapy that can be done with the frequency, total duration and follow-up of all therapies varies. The frequency of therapy varies from 1-5 times a week. The total duration lasts 1 week to 90 days. Follow-up fluctuated between 2 weeks and 2 years. Thus, it can be concluded that in this case the traction manipulation method of therapy can be used which in this therapy provides a better effect on increasing ROM in subjects with adhesive capsulitis.
