Abstract

This research stems from data that says that more than half of the Muslim population in Indonesia cannot read the Qur'an. This phenomenon requires Muslims to synergize in liberating Muslim brothers and sisters in Indonesia from qur'anic illiteracy, including those pursued by the administrators of Masjid Al-Amin, Bibis, Hadiluwih, Sumberlawang, Sragen, by collaborating with the Qur'an Caravan institution to help the community around the Al-Amin mosque to be free from qur'an illiteracy. This study aims to 1) describe the application of the tsaqifa method in the free learning of Qur'an illiteracy by the Qur'an Caravan at Al-Amin Mosque, Bibis, Hadiluwih, Sumberlawang, Sragen in 2022, and 2) identify obstacles to this learning. The type of research used is qualitative research with a phenomenological descriptive approach. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Test the validity of the data using source triangulation and techniques triangulation. Data analysis techniques include the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the application of the tsaqifa method in Qur'anic Illiteracy Free Learning was carried out classically by teachers from the Sragen Qur'an Caravan to the participants (fathers of al-Amin mosque worshippers) which was held every Friday after maghrib prayers until the eve of azan isya. The infrastructure used is tsaqifa books, blackboards, and markers. The learning steps are not carried out according to the procedural in the tsaqifa book, but are adapted to the conditions of the participants and the existing time allocation. The learning techniques are, 1) the teacher starts the learning with greetings and reads the basmalah together, 2) the core learning (tsaqifa material chapter I), where the teacher exemplifies first to read while showing the hijaiyah letters in chapter 1 along with the hijaiyah letters in the practice column. Then, the participants mimicked the readings shown by the teacher. After fluency, the teacher only showed the hijaiyah letters and the participants read them together. Then the participants were appointed one by one by the teacher to read the hijaiyah letters in turn. 3) The study ends with prayer and greeting. The obstacles to learning are from participants who have a different level of understanding than other participants. Thus, there are participants who are a little stuttering and require an emphasis on certain hijaiyah letters that are not yet understood perfectly, and take longer than other participants in understanding the material presented by the teacher.
