Abstract

In a company cash account is very important, cash is the most liquid asset, includes available currency and funds on deposit. This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability, leverage, firm size, and capital expenditure on cash holding. The consumer goods industry listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017-2020 is used as the research population. Purposive sampling method was used to meet the criteria for the research sample, then 124 samples were selected for 4 years and during the test there were 24 outliers. The data analysis method used multiple linear regression. The results show that leverage and firm size affect cash holding, while profitability and capital expenditure have no effect on cash holding in consumer goods companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2017-2020. Simultaneous test shows that profitability, leverage, firm size, and capital expenditure together affect cash holding by 16.5% while the remaining 83.5% is influenced by other variables outside the study.
