Abstract

Adolescents are vulnerable to nutrition problems because they are still in transition, body development, the process of changing lifestyles and daily habits that like to trying various foods. Fast food is understood as food that is prepared in a relatively fast time with a high level of calorie content, if it is too high in consumption, there will be an accumulation of calories so that it affects the nutritional status. Overnutrition status and obesity in SMA Public 1 Surakarta City have a high percentage of nutritional status compared to RISKESDAS (2018), in addition the location of SMA Public 1 Surakarta City which is in the middle of the city so it is easy to get fast food. Objective : This study aimed to analyze the correlation between fast food consumption and nutritional status in adolescents at SMA Public 1 Surakarta City. Methodology : This research was an observational study using cross sectional approach with a population of 749 people. Sampling using simple random sampling method with the number of respondents was 64 samples. Fast food consumption data were collected by direct interview method using semi quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) form for the last 1 month and nutritional status data using height and weight measurements then calculated using the Z-Score (BMI/U) formula. Statistical test was conducted using Spearman Rank test. Results : Distribution of adolescent fast-food consumption at high category (89.1%) with an average energy contribution of 455.3 kcal and undernutrition status was 3.1%, good nutritional status was 70.3%, high nutritional status was 6.3%, and obesity was 20.3%. The Spearman Rank test results showed that there was a correlation between fast food consumption and nutritional status (p=0.007). Conclusion : There was a correlation between fast food consumption and nutritional status in adolescents at SMA Public 1 Surakarta City.
