Abstract
Online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was later replaced with limited offline learning in Indonesia, caused issues in the community 2 regarding the declining quality of the younger generation. One of the causes of the decline in the character of students is the lack of education that emphasizes religious values. This is a challenge for educational institutions, not only how to convey learning to students but also how educational institutions can continue to implement religious character education for their students. Al-Hadi Islamic Junior High School is an Islamic-based school that continues to carry out religious character education for its students even during the limited offline learning period, where the face-to-face learning time is shorter than in previous years. This morning dhikr activity in junior high school is one of the activities implemented as an effort to build religious character for students. This study aims to describe the implementation of morning dhikr activities in the formation of the religious character of students at Al-Hadi Islamic Junior High School Sukoharjo in the 2021/2022 academic year and to describe the obstacles to the implementation of morning dhikr activities at Al-Hadi Islamic Junior High School Sukoharjo for the 2021/2022 academic year. This study uses descriptive qualitative research based on research in the field with a phenomenological approach. The data sources in this study were the Deputy Head of Curriculum, PAI Teachers, Homeroom Teachers, BK Teachers, and students of Al-Hadi Sukoharjo Islamic Junior High School, as well as other relevant documents. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the process of implementing this morning dhikr activity used 3 stages, namely: 1) Understanding, this stage was carried out by providing information about the basis and positive values of dhikr activities, usually given at morning apples, homeroom coaching, etc. 2) Habituation, this stage is done by carrying out morning dhikr every morning. 3) Exemplary, this stage is given by the teacher as a role model in the school environment. The obstacles encountered in the implementation of this morning's dhikr are the sleepiness of the students, chatting with their classmates, the sound that sometimes doesn't work properly, and so on.
