Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the Intensity of Use of Social Media 'Instagram' on Social Awareness in Late Adolescents. The place of research is at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The population in this study were students of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta aged 19-22 years. The sample is 100 students, by accidental sampling. The data collection method uses the intensity scale of Instagram's use of social media and the social awareness scale which is distributed online via the google form link. The data analysis technique in this study uses a quantitative approach with hypothesis testing using Pearson's product moment parametric correlation. The results of Pearson's product moment parametric correlation analysis show that there is a positive relationship between the intensity of Instagram social media use and social awareness (r = 0.270, sig 0.00) which means that there is a significant positive relationship between the intensity of Instagram social media use and social awareness in late teens. . The hypothesis in this study was declared rejected. The effective contribution of the Instagram social media usage intensity variable to social awareness is 7.3%.
