Abstract

Tidal flooding caused by sea level rise and land subsidence raises various impacts on the coastal area of Kendal Regency, especially on the social community. With the condition of the area which is dominated by lowlands, Kendal Regency has a social risk of tidal flood disaster. What emerges from the impact of the tidal flood disaster is hazard, vulnerability, and social risk. This study aims to analyze the hazard, social vulnerability and social risk from the modeling of the tidal flood inundation scenario on the coast of Kendal Regency. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with data collection through agency services and literature surveys. In spatial data analysis using GIS and Neighborhood Operation analysis in the iteration process used to determine the distribution of tidal inundation from the inundation modeling results as a determination of hazard, social vulnerability, and social risk in the coastal area of Kendal Regency. The results showed that the distribution of tidal flood inundation showed that 41 villages were inundated in the 110 cm inundation scenario and 49 villages were inundated in the 190 cm inundation scenario. The hazard posed by tidal flood in the 110 cm and 190 cm scenario is the highest in Wonorejo Village in Kaliwungu District with an inundation area of 835.80 Ha or 88.92% for the 110 cm scenario and an inundation area of 924.16 Ha or 98 ,32% for the 190 cm scenario. Social vulnerability shows as many as 8 villages have high social vulnerability with the highest scores being in Bandengan Village, Kendal District, 33 villages of moderate social vulnerability, and 8 villages of low social vulnerability. Social risk shows that in the 110 cm tidal flood inundation scenario as many as 10 villages have high risk, 16 villages are at moderate risk, and 15 villages are at low risk. In the rob flood inundation in the 190 cm scenario, 13 villages have high risk, 17 villages are at moderate risk, and 13 villages are at low risk. Based on the results of the study, that a modeling of disaster studies, especially tidal flooding and its relation to social risks in Kendal Regency, is very meaningful for the Kendal Regency Government in making policies and decisions
