Abstract

This study aims to describe the depiction of identity masculinity and nationalism in photographic works on instagram @antarafotocom. This study reveals the identity of masculinity and nationalism in men in the photographic work of journalists between photos. This research is included in descriptive qualitative research. The population in this study is all photographic works uploaded on August 17, 2021, on the instagram account @antarafotocom. While the samples studied were four photos that matched the criteria of the researcher. The appropriate data collection technique in this research is observation and documentation. The theoretical triangulation technique was used to check the validity of the data in this study. Furthermore, to analyze the data in this study, Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis was used to find the meaning of masculinity and nationalism identity signs displayed by works in photography on instagram @antarafotocom. The results concluded in this study are the photos on instagram accounts have the identity of traditional male interpersonal masculinity in the form of an attitude of responsibility and leadership and traditional male character masculinity in the form of adventure. Meanwhile, the nationalism displayed is respecting the nation's symbols, such as the red and white flag, and respective the services of heroes.
