Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2 is a degenerative disease caused by poor eating habits and physical activity. Uncontrolled blood glucose levels will cause complications. The prevalence of DM in Indonesia in 2018 increased when compared to 2013, and the prevalence of DM in East Java in 2018 exceeded the national average. DM is one of the top 10 disease problems at the Tuban Hospital. This study aims to determine the description of fast food consumption and physical activity in type 2 DM outpatients at Tuban Hospital. The type of method used is observational with a cross-sectional approach. The number of respondents was 69 outpatients. The selection of respondents with Consecutive sampling technique. Data on fast food consumption using the Food Frequency Questionnaire method for the last 3 months, physical activity using physical activity recall for 7 days and fasting blood glucose (GDP) levels were obtained from the patient's medical records. Test analysis using descriptive analysis. The results showed that respondents' GDP levels were not controlled (92.8%). As many as 65.2% of respondents rarely eat fast food. Fast food that respondents never consumed were burgers, kebabs, pizza and steaks (100%). Fast food that is rarely consumed is pempek and sweet martabak (62.3%). Fast food that is often consumed is fried rice (39.1%), Kentucky chicken (33,3%), meatballs (33,3%), sausage (33,3%) and yam (33.3%). The contribution of fast food to nutritional needs is 16% energy, 21% protein, 37% fat and 9% carbohydrates. Most of the respondents' physical activity was in the light category (81.2%). It is recommended that respondents explore information related to proper diet and routine physical activity, it is hoped that the hospital can improve the provision of education by optimizing the existing nutritional poly.
