Abstract

treatment of corn plant extract on curly red chili did not show a significant effect on the parameters of germination percentage, height, and number of leaves, but had a positive effect on root length and number of roots compared. Corn plant roots are associated with endophytic bacteria that produce IAA (indole-3-acetic acid) so that it acts as a plant growth promoter. This study aims to determine the effect of corn root extract on the growth of curly red chili plants. The study used two factorial RAL (Completely Randomized Design) with the first factor being the design of the solution, namely P1 = Ringer's solution (control) and P2 = Corn root extract, while the second factor was the soaking time of curly red chili seeds L1 = 30 minutes, L2 = 45 minutes and L3 = 60 minutes. Chili seeds before being treated sterilization planting and use of cotton media. Growth parameters included plant height, number of leaves and number of roots measured after 32 days. Percentage of seed germination at P1 and P2 was 100%, plant height at P1 ranged from 3 cm to 3.5 cm while at P2 it ranged from 3 cm to 4.5 cm. The number of leaves in P1 and P2 was 2-3 leaves, but the number of roots and root length of red chili plants in P2 was better than P1. The conclusion of the study showed that the
