Abstract

Soil is a very important substructure in a construction. On the Wonogiri-Ponorogo road section, many roads were damaged quite badly, this was proven by the cracked and bumpy road conditions. In this study, lime was used as a soil stabilizing agent which aims to improve the physical properties of the soil and the bearing capacity of the soil. Testing of physical properties of native and mixed soils includes, water content test, specific gravity test, Atterberg limits, soil grain size analysis. testing of the mechanical properties of the original and mixed soils includes the Standard Proctor test, and the soaked and unsoaked CBR test. The results of testing the physical properties of the original soil obtained a water content value of 6.65%, specific gravity 2.609, LL = 45.80%, PL = 18.94%, SL = 7.11% and PI = 26.86%. According to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Jatisrono clay belongs to group A-7-6. Meanwhile, according to the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS), it is included in the CL group. The results of soil testing with a mixture of lime 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10% obtained the value of water content, specific gravity value, LL, and the percentage value of passing filter No. 200 tends to decrease, while PL and SL have increased. According to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Jatisrono clay belongs to group A-7-6. Meanwhile, according to the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS), it is included in the CL group. The dry volume weight increased and the optimum water content decreased after being stabilized with lime. Unsoaked and Soaked CBR values tend to increase along with the addition of lime percentage. The highest Unsoaked CBR value occurred in soil with 10% lime percentage of 24% and the highest Soaked CBR value occurred in soil with 10% lime percentage, 6%. The swelling value decreased along with the addition of lime percentage. The lowest swelling value in the addition of 10% lime percentage is 0.58%.
