Abstract

Online games are games that can be played when connected to internet access and have easy access. Individuals play online games because they are attracted to friends who first play online games. This study aims to determine self-control in adolescent online game addicts. The method used in this study is qualitative phenomenology and data collection obtained from interviews. Respondents in this study were 5 members of the noisy impact community with an age range of 15-21 years. The analysis used in this research is thematic analysis. The results obtained from this study are that the research respondents have not been able to control themselves which is indicated by their indiscipline in controlling the time to play online games and also emotions. Respondents still often procrastinate in playing online games to the point of forgetting the time and ignoring other activities. Impact of playing online games: (a) often use harsh words when playing online games; (b) sleep time is reduced due to frequent staying up late); (c) appears lazy to do the task.
