Abstract

Religious character is the character of a person who is in accordance with the teachings of Islam which is based on the Qur'an and hadith and is applied in everyday life. Religious character is one of the character values that need to be instilled in children, because to create children who have good morals. However, children who are in orphanages cannot feel the role of parents, especially in the formation of religious character. So it is important how the Muhammadiyah Candimulyo Orphanage strategy in shaping the religious character of children. Strategy as an outline of the direction or planning in acting with a predetermined effort to obtain success or success in achieving goals. This study explains how the strategies used by the Candimulyo Muhammadiyah Orphanage are to form religious characters in foster children. The purpose of this study was to determine the strategy of the Muhammadiyah Candimulyo Orphanage in shaping the religious character of children and to determine the supporting and inhibiting factors in the strategy used by the Candimulyo Muhammadiyah Orphanage in shaping the religious character of children. This research is a field research with a phenomenological approach, data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. In this study, the validity of the data was tested by using triangulation of source data and techniques. The data analysis technique uses data collection, data reduction, and then draws conclusions. The results of this study are the strategy used by the Muhammadiyah Candimulyo Orphanage using strategies of habituation, example, direct action, education, attention and affection, advice, and punishment. The results of the implementation of this strategy are quite effective in shaping the religious character of foster children at the Candimulyo Muhammadiyah Orphanage.
