Abstract

Settlement is a part of the earth's surface inhabited by humans which includes all the infrastructure and facilities that support the life of the population, which become an integral part of the residence concerned. Settlements will continue to develop and form a certain pattern. The settlement pattern is inseparable from the influence of geographical factors, both physical and social factors in the area. This study aims to determine the distribution and pattern of settlements in Wonogiri District and the relationship between physical and socio-economic factors to the distribution of settlements. The method used in this study is Nearest Neighbor Analysis which is useful for knowing the type of settlement pattern in Wonogiri District. The value of the image accuracy test results with Overall Accuracy obtained is 97.14%, while the Kappa Accuracy value is obtained at 96.66% which can be concluded that this image accuracy test is relatively high. This study resulted in 1) The distribution pattern of settlements in the study area formed a clustered and dispersed distribution pattern of settlements. 2) Physical factors such as slope, altitude and ease of access to water have a bearing on the formation of settlement patterns. 3) Socio-economic factors also have a relationship with the distribution of settlement patterns in the form of population density and the number of public facilities.
