Abstract
Concrete is a material that is often used in the manufacture of construction. Cement is one of the constituent materials of concrete. Because cement production produces high carbon dioxide gas, the use of fly ash as a partial replacement for cement is expected to reduce environmental pollution due to carbon dioxide gas. The addition of wire fibers can also overcome the weak mechanical properties of concrete in tensile strength and flexural strength. This study aims to determine the effect of fly ash with wire fibers on the properties of fresh concrete and the mechanical properties of concrete. Concrete mix planning uses SNI 03-2834-2000 guidelines with added fly ash content of 20% and 50% of the weight of cement and BWG21 wire fibers of 0.7% of the weight of concrete. The design compressive strength used is 25 MPa and 45 MPa at 28 days of age. From the research conducted, the optimum fly ash content is at 20% with a compressive strength of 37.16 MPa in normal-quality fly ash concrete and 48.29 MPa in high strength fly ash concrete, where the compressive strength results can exceed the design compressive strength. For the results of the tensile strength of 3.49 MPa on normal quality fly ash concrete and 3.42 MPa on high strength fly ash concrete, as well as flexural strength of 6.67 MPa on normal quality fly ash concrete and 5.24 MPa high strength fly ash concrete. The results of tensile strength and flexural strength showed that the tensile strength and flexural strength of normal-quality fly ash concrete were better than that of high strength fly ash concrete.
