Abstract
Character education has an important role in a country as an effort to improve the character of human resources and in order to achieve the goals of a nation. The main factor in the formation of character is through the environment, in this case the school is an educational institution that has a vision and mission to foster the nation's children. Of course, a school creates a good environment for students in shaping character, namely in the form of strategies that have been designed by the school, such as exemplary, intervention, habituation that is carried out continuously and consistently. This study seeks to describe the method of inculcating student character and identifying the success of the method of inculcating student character at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Islam Jamsaren Surakarta. This research is a qualitative research with the type of field research using a phenomenological approach, the data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The validity of the data in this study was tested using triangulation of source data and techniques. Data analysis techniques using interactive starting from data collection, data reduction, data presentation and then draw conclusions. The results showed that the implementation of the method of instilling student character at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Islam Jamasaren Surakarta was carried out by the habituation method through Islamic pre-study activities and halaqah al-Qur'an mentoring. The success of the character planting method at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Islam Jamsaren can be seen from the psychomotor aspect, attitude aspect and self-integrity. The psychomotor aspects of students can be seen from the 5 S habituation with obedience or devotion to Allah SWT, obeying the rules, and carrying out the Sunnah of the Prophet seen from student mentoring sheets and school book recaps. Then from the attitude aspect, it can be seen from the habit of carrying out congregational prayers on time. Then from the aspect of self-integrity, it is seen from the habit of dhikr, praying, tadarus al-Qur'an, togetherness or participating in studies, and halaqah.
