Abstract
The character of teenagers in today's era is increasingly influenced by outside culture. This is because of the sophistication of technology so that parents are quite overwhelmed with dealing with teenagers at this time. Thus, it is necessary to develop character for teenagers. Departing from these problems, the author tries to examine Character Development for Youth in Muhammadiyah Families in Bangunrejo Village. The purpose of this study was to describe character building for adolescents in the Muhammadiyah Family in Bangunrejo Village and to describe the supporting factors and inhibiting factors for character building for adolescents in the Muhammadiyah Family in Bangunrejo Village. This type of research is a field research through a phenomenological approach to describe existing phenomena. Sources of data obtained through interviews, observation and documentation. The data that has been collected is analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing and verification. This study obtained the results of character building for adolescents in Muhammadiyah families with strategies of habituation, exemplary, discipline and a conducive atmosphere, and instilling character values in them. The inhibiting factor for developing adolescent character is coming from friends and technological sophistication that parents have to control. While the supporting factors are family, living environment and school environment.
