Abstract

Today's moral degradation, which targets all groups, including students, is a problem that must be answered by education itself. Ibn Miskawaih is a philosopher, historian and theologian who is known as the third teacher (al-Mu’allim al-Śalis) in the field of ethics. This study aims to identify and discover the concept of moral education as well as ways to transform human beings through moral-based education according to Ibnu Miskawaih. This type of research is included in qualitative research (Library Research), using a Philosophical Inquiry approach, in collecting data researchers use documentation techniques, while to analyze data using content analysis and inductive thinking patterns. The results of this study are to answer the main point of Ibn Miskawaih's moral education, namely in the Internal aspect including Wisdom, Courage and Simplicity. The External aspect includes Generosity and Justice. In an effort to transform human behavior, it is carried out by means of Al-Adat wal Jihad, Muḥasabah al-nafs, Active Learning and Opposition Methods. In an effort to transform this behavior, it is emphasized on self-awareness to make habituation and self-training since childhood by meeting the needs of the soul, body and social aspects. Because, the nature of morality is in the human soul and must be implemented in a series of human behavior.
