Abstract

Friction welding the joining process is carried out without filler metal, where the welding process occurs due to heat arising from the friction of two objects which can melt both ends of the workpiece and eventually occurs splicing process. The material used in this research is Aisi Steel 1010, with variations in rotation of 800 rpm, 1000 rpm, 1200 rpm followed by a heat treatment process (Annealing). process of heat treatment (Annealing) on the physical and mechanical properties f AISI 1010 Steel. The highest hardness of the joint area of 126 VHN is found at 800 rpm variation, the lowest hardness of the joint area of 136.7 VHN is in the welding area. The highest tensile strength of 502.7MPa is found at 800 rpm, while the lowest tensile result of 397MPa is found at 1000 rpm. The results of the Sem test are that the grain size of ferrite is larger than that without heat treatment annealing, because the pearlite phase becomes austenite when heating exceeds the lower crisis temperature.
