Abstract
The optimism of the orphanage youth needs to be investigated, because in some cases the orphanage becomes easily stressed, depressed, and feels that they do not have a bright future so they are hesitant to state their goals. The lack of optimism among young people in orphanages is demonstrated by worries about expressing ideals or assumptions about a less-than-optimistic future, according to a number of previous research. This study aims to comprehend the psychological dynamics of optimism in dealing with the orphanage's future, the variables that affect optimism in dealing with the orphanage's future, and attempts to cultivate optimism. Six young people in an orphanage who were chosen through a purposive sampling are participants in the research utilizing the qualitative phenomenology approach. Combining semi-structured interviews to gather data and interpretative phenomenological analysis to analyse that data (IPA). The findings indicated that foster kids who reside in orphanages are often optimistic about the future. This is evident from the data, which reveals that four participants have high levels of optimism whereas two persons have lower levels. Foster children that are upbeat have optimistic views of the future. The outlook on the future is influenced by one's background, education, and family. the external and internal factors that influence foster children's optimism. Family issues, societal support, and self-motivation are all factors that come from foster children. Foster children who are self-driven, have familial support, and are supported by their environment tend to have optimistic future expectations. They may create detailed plans, both short- and long-term. They are also capable of handling failure and adversity in an adaptive manner.
