Abstract

Batik is one of the cultural heritages in Indonesia which has a high value. On October 2, 2009 UNESCO declared that batik is a world cultural heritage. Based on data from the Ministry of Industry in 2016, the export of batik products in 2012-2014 reached USS 840.1 to 867.6 million or equivalent to Rp. 11.9-12.3 trillion at an exchange rate of Rp. 13,436/US dollar. Many batik industries use synthetic dyes which are generally pollutants contained in the waste produced. The batik industry is one of the industries that produces liquid waste that is discharged into the surrounding environment. The increasing production of batik causes the amount of waste to increase, so that it can cause environmental pollution if the processing is not done properly. Kampoeng Batik Laweyan is one of the batik industrial areas in Surakarta City. In this area, batik production has been a business that has been going on for decades, there are also around 100 home-scale batik entrepreneurs.
