Abstract
Indonesia is known as an agricultural country with most of the population working as farmers. Data from BPJS in 2021 states that the number of work accidents in Indonesia is 234,270 cases. One of the work accidents experienced by farmers is because they do not wear PPE. Based on the results of a preliminary survey of 20 farmers in Lencoh Village, it was found that 6 farmers who were harvesting did not wear PPE, and 14 other farmers also did not use full PPE when hoeing and planting vegetables. According to the informant, the incidence of work accidents on farmers such as slipping, injured feet or hands and splashed with pesticides are still experienced by farmers. This study aims to analyze whether there is a relationship between knowledge and proficiency in the use of PPE with the incidence of work accidents on vegetable farmers in Lencoh Village, Selo District, Boyolali. Methods This research uses observational quantitative with a cross sectional research design conducted on farmer groups consisting of 68 farmers. Sampling in this study using total sampling. The statistical test used the chi-square correlation test on the knowledge variable with the incidence of work accidents and the Fisher exact test on the variable of completeness of the use of PPE with the incidence of work accidents. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between knowledge and the incidence of work accidents (p = 0.324> 0.05) and there was no significant relationship between the completeness of the use of PPE and the incidence of work accidents (p = 0.421> 0.05) in vegetable farmers in Indonesia. Lencoh Village, Selo District, Boyolali. For this reason, farmers are advised to increase the use of complete PPE in order to reduce the risk of work accidents and reduce the severity of work accidents.
