Abstract

Interpersonal communication between parents and children is important in the process of preventing pre-marital sex. Transaction of meaning information can affect the success of parents in preventing pre-marital sex to children. Parents have a variety of actions to convey the meaning of preventing pre-marital sex so that it is easily accepted by children. In this study, the method used is qualitative descriptive to describe the social reality that occurs between parents and teenage boys in the process of preventing premarital sex. Field data was obtained from interviews with 6 speakers from 2 families consisting of 2 teenage boys aged 18-21 years, 2 Mothers and 2 Fathers. The results showed that preventing of pre-marital sex conducted by parents by paying attention to several things such as conveying face-to-face, paying attention to the child's situation and condition, choosing the right time, doing in sufficient intensity and giving children space to respond is a way that the meaning of preventing sex can be conveyed well to children.
