Abstract
Arabic as a foreign language occupies a strategic position, especially for Indonesian Muslims. In the world of Islamic education, Arabic is highly emphasized both in formal and non-formal schools, especially in madrasas and Islamic boarding schools. Learning Arabic is not as easy as one might think. In learning Arabic, not only reading skills (qiro'ah), but also three other Arabic skills, namely listening ('istima'), speaking (kalam) and writing (kitabah). The ultimate goal of learning these four language skills is for students to be able to use Arabic both orally and in writing and to communicate with other people who use Arabic. However, it should be noted that not all students have the ability to understand Arabic better and in depth. So it takes the right learning method to achieve the goals that have been set. This study aims to describe the implementation of learning applied to Arabic learning at MAN 2 Surakarta in the academic year 2021/2022, as well as to identify the obstacles faced in the implementation of Arabic learning methods at MAN 2 Surakarta in the academic year 2021/2022. This study uses a type of field research (Field Research) using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Sources of data in this study were waka curriculum, Arabic teachers and students of MAN 2 Surakarta, as well as relevant documents. Data collection techniques used interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The data validity technique uses technical triangulation and source triangulation. The data analysis technique uses Miles and Huberman's interactive model of data analysis in the form of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of the Arabic language learning method at MAN 2 Surakarta, namely preparation was carried out by mastering the applicable curriculum, preparing learning tools such as lesson plans, syllabus, handbooks and teaching materials and knowing the characteristics of the students being taught. The implementation of Arabic learning uses an eclectic (combined) method consisting of the qawaid wa tarjamah method, the qira'ah method, the drill method, and the mubasyarah method (direct) and combined with the lecture method, question and answer method and the assignment or recitation method. Evaluation of Arabic learning includes practice assignments, daily tests, PTS (Middle Semester Assessment), and PAS (Final Semester Assessment). The obstacles faced in the implementation of Arabic learning methods at MAN 2 Surakarta include internal factors including different educational backgrounds of students, lack of willingness and motivation of students, and lack of interest in student learning while external factors include lack of time and learning hours.
