Abstract
Changes in the learning system from offline to online became an obstacle for teachers in carrying out their duties as educators in transferring knowledge and inculcating values. This research focuses on the process of instilling values that are not conveyed optimally because there is no direct interaction between teachers and students, so they cannot instill, control, monitor, and give examples to students. The existence of these obstacles causes a lack of intake related to values, morals, morals that cause students to have bad behavior. So that after face-to-face learning is carried out again, regarding student behavior, it is very concerning that it looks less moral or has good character. Thus, efforts are needed that must be made by the teachers and the school to instill character values so that students have good character. This study aims to describe the efforts made by Islamic Religious Education teachers in inculcating student character values and to identify supporting factors and inhibiting factors in implementing student character values in SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Ngemplak Boyolali. This research is a type of qualitative research with a phenomenological approachlm. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Ngemplak Boyolali. Methods of data collection in this study using observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique in this study using interactive analysis of Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification or drawing conclusions. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that the efforts of PAI teachers in inculcating student character values at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Ngemplak Boyolali through example and habituation. The example given by the PAI teacher at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Ngemplak Boyolali is by acting, speaking, and dressing well and politely. Meanwhile, the habituation carried out to instill the character values of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Ngemplak Boyolali is welcoming students, tadarus, dhuha prayers and congregational prayers, ceremonies, homeroom coaching, infaq, social services, and community service. As for the involvement of PAI teachers, it is in the habit of welcoming students, praying dhuha and praying in congregation as well as fostering homeroom teachers. Supporting factors in the effort to inculcate student character values are the loyalty of the teachers and the role model performed by PAI teachers.While the inhibiting factors in efforts to inculcate student character values are community environment, friendships and parents who are less supportive and the lack of students awareness.
