Abstract

This study aims to find the discourse behind reporting the threat case of Hary Tanoesoedibyo (HT) SMS on the online media Sindonews.com. The research method uses discourse analysis based on the theory of Norman Fairclough, by dividing the analysis into three dimensions, namely: text analysis (micro dimension), discourse practice analysis (meso dimension), and socio-cultural practice analysis (macro dimension). The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with 15 research samples published on June 23 - July 3, 2017, on the Sindonews.com portal. The data collection technique used is documentation. Researchers documented news and images in the online news portal Sindonews.com on June 23 - July 3, 2017. These data were not only collected but also adjusted to the discourse analysis method that used in this study. The results of the analysis showed there are three categories of discourse in the news, namely: construction of discourse on HT threat SMS cases, discourse construction strategy of HT threat SMS cases, and practice of HT threat news discourse.
