Abstract

Educational facilities related to awareness and concern for the environment are very important in the current era of globalization because the issue of environmental damage is increasingly emerging due to human activities. As happened in the Pekalongan area, it was noted that many rivers were polluted due to batik and textile waste that was thrown into the river carelessly. The awareness of the surrounding community regarding environmental care is relatively low, because even though the government has tried to overcome the existing polemics, the results are still to no avail. Education related to environmental awareness needs to be given to future generations so that these damage issues do not occur in the future. “Pekalongan Nature-Integrated School” is an idea for planning school education facilities that promote the values of SAPE (Spirit, Morals, Knowledge, Entrepreneur), using the concept of ecological design. Several ecological designs, such as the implementation of stilt house designs, the provision of outdoor learning areas, and also the use of local materials are applied so that the relationship between users, buildings, and nature is integrated with each other so as to create a harmonious relationship between the three. Several energy conservation concepts such as biogas, compost houses, rain water harvesting systems are also applied to the planning concept with the aim that students at this school can understand the importance of reuse and recycle knowledge in caring for the environment.
