Abstract
The construction worker is one of the work activities that still doing manually by workers. Work activities carried out manually or manual handling can cause the risk of occupational health, one of them is muskoloskeletal complaint. The purposes of this study were to determine the relation between manual handling risk and musculoskeletal complaints in the construction workers in Karangduren Village, Boyolali. This study used an analytic observational research with a cross sectional approach. Purposive sampling was applied as the sampling technique with a sample of 29 respondents. Measurement of manual handling risk was measured through the ERFC method and measurement of musculoskeletal complaints was measured with the NBM method. Meanwhile, the statistical test was done by adopting Rank Spearman test. The results of statistical tests showed the value of p = 0.007 < 0.05 and the value (r) 0.49. The conclusions of this study were; there was a relationship between manual handling risk and musculoskeletal complaints and the strength of the relationship was quite strong. The results of statistical tests showed a significant relation between manual handling and musculoskeletal complaints with a value p = 0.007 < 0,05 with a fairly strong relation strength (r = 0,49). Therefore, further controlling were needed about manual handling activities that caused by musculoskeletal complaints. The prevention was recommended by using transporlation aids, applying good and correct work postures as the body was in a power zone when lifting and pushing materials
