Abstract
Johar Market is a market located in the city of Semarang and was the largest market in Southeast Asia in its heyday. Johar Market is one of the economic driving markets in the city of Semarang. Currently, the Semarang city government has made the Johar market a landmark of the city of Semarang after the completion of the revitalization of the Johar market building which was previously burned down. Along with the times, the Johar market area has become a shopping center area, both shops and malls. The mall is named Shopping Center Johar (SCJ) which is commonly referred to by the people around Matahari Johar. However, due to the construction of another mall located in the Central Business District (CBD), the mall in Johar is no longer crowded and closed. Due to the Johar market fire accident, the Ex Matahari Johar building was used as a relocation site for traders affected by the fire. Starting from the closing of the mall to making it a place for traders to relocate, the former Matahari Johar building has become unkempt. It can't be separated from the facilities and infrastructure in the Ex Matahari Johar building which also did not work properly. In addition, by making Johar traditional market a landmark of the city of Semarang after the completion of the revitalization of the building, the Ex Matahari Johar building became the highlight of the area with buildings that seem unkempt compared to surrounding buildings such as the Metro Hotel and Johar traditional market buildings that carry colonial architectural styles.
