Abstract
The purpose of this research is to identify the primary thoughts of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas about character education and its relevance to the era of disruption. This research method is library research with a historical approach. The data source for this research comes from the work of books and writings of figures directly and as a supporter of other papers that discuss the character. This study aims to determine the concept of ta'dib used by Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas as the meaning of Islamic character education and its relevance to the era of disruption. The main problems in this study are: 1) What are Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas's thoughts on character education. 2) How is the relevance of thought used by Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas in the era of disruption. The results of this study suggest that when the ta'dib theory is implemented into character education today, it will be able to balance science with the deed. So that the concept of ta'dib, if combined with character education, would focus more on mastering knowledge and understanding of good behavior in students. So that it makes students have the stability of charity and good behavior based on strong faith. Therefore, when individuals can understand science well, then they are able to do good deeds in their daily life.
