Abstract
Learning independence is very important for elementary students as a provision to realize their hopes and dreams. The purpose of this study was to describe the independence of students in an attitude of believing in their own abilities, solving their own problems, and completing their own assignments in Mathematics learning after the Covid-19 pandemic in Elementary Schools. This research is a qualitative research with a case study design. The research subjects were 27 grade VI students of SDN 01 Papahan. Data collection with interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The validity of the data was tested by triangulation of techniques and sources. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive analysis techniques, namely: data collection, reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that in mathematics learning after the Covid-19 pandemic, most of the students: (1) were able to be independent in an attitude of believing in their own abilities, marked by: 81.48% being optimistic, 66.67% daring to do positive things, and 77.78% are serious about doing the task according to their own ability; (2) able to independently solve mathematical problems, as indicated by: 74.07% understand their own problems, 92.59% plan their own problems, 77.78% solve their own problems, and 77.78% recheck the results of solving their own problems; (3) able to be independent in completing tasks, marked by 85.19% understanding their own tasks, 85.19% preparing to complete their own tasks, 81.48% completing their own tasks, and 66.67% doing follow-up and improvement of their own tasks. Students who are able to be independent in an attitude of believing in themselves, solving problems, and completing math assignments, will have a positive impact on optimal learning outcomes. In addition, students gain knowledge, skills, and experience contextually as a provision to achieve their goals.
