Abstract
ABSTRACT Education is a person's effort carried out with the aim of gaining knowledge, knowledge, insight and experience that aims to get good achievements. The COVID-19 pandemic that came in early March 2020 and continues until now. Thepandemic COVID-19 requires educational elements to carry out Learning during thePandemic Period to COVID-19 maintain online learning. Current conditions are urgent for innovation and adaptation related to the use of available technology to support the learning process. The purpose of this research is to find out the inhibiting and supporting factors in learning through e-learning during the covid 19 pandemic and what are the strategies of principals and teachers in improving the quality of education through e-learning during the covid 19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative method by using interviews and documentation as data collection techniques. The results showed that there were 5 inhibiting factors in e-learning learning, including inadequate facilities, lack of understanding of learning media, inappropriate use of facilities, not being able to supervise students directly and students often not participating in learning. In addition to inhibiting factors, there are also supporting factors in the e-learning learning process at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta, including: for students who do not have a budget to participate in learning, the principal submits a disbursement of aid funds to the education office. The second is the provision of wifi facilities at the Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta Junior High School. To improve the quality of education during the pandemic, school principals implement several strategies, namely: the use of new learning media such as class rooms and youtube. Applying thelearning method Blended Learning, giving activity assignments, maintaining superior programs, and continuing boarding school. And carry out home visits. The quality of education at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta during the Covid-19 pandemic was in accordance with standards but was not satisfactory, especially in terms of students' understanding in receiving material.
