Abstract

Crisis is a shocking event that can pose a threat to organizations, companies, as well as stakeholders. This study seeks to see the crisis response strategy used by the Surakarta Residency Regional Government in dealing with Covid-19 through the Solopos media. The purpose of this research is to find out the crisis response strategy of the government in various areas of the former Surakarta Residency in dealing with the Covid-19 crisis through the media Solopos.com with Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT). This research uses quantitative method with descriptive content analysis with content validity test and reliability test between coders. The crisis response strategy using Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) as the theoretical basis shows that the Reminder category dominates this research, which is 78%. These results indicate that the crisis response carried out by the Surakarta Ex-Kresidency Regional Government tends to minimize the negative image by providing programs or services as an effort to deal with the crisis that occurs. The categories of excuse, justification, compensation, and ingratiation were also found but not enough to dominate only one article in each category or as much as 5.5%.
