Abstract

The term Mental Health Care Center is a service provider that supports and cares for people with mental disorders. Not only in medical factors, but also being able to support and care for people with mental disorders through the existing environment. An environment of mental health service providers must be able to provide calm, peace, and hope for people with mental disorders to continue to be healthy. These factors can be realized with the concept of stress-reducing design based on environmental psychology by reducing mental disorders/stress/aggression in people with mental disorders by reducing stressors and providing positive distractions. Mental health care center planning with this concept aims to produce a Mental Health Care Center design with predetermined standard, but with a design that can reduce stress and be able to help healing. By using qualitative descriptive methods, through various surveys, literature studies, and comparative studies, so it can be concluded that people with mental disorders should be kept away from stress-causing elements and given positive distractions. This is related to the theories of Environmental Psychology, based on these theories, it is concluded that the elements of Stress-Reducing Design are in the form of reduction of environmental stress, stress reducing positive distraction, and design for observation and security. Through these three elements, the design of the Mental Health Care Center is expected to create an environment that is able to provide the effect of peace, tranquility, and help success in healing for people with mental disorders, and can improve the work ethic of health workers and employees.
