Abstract
Social media is one type of application that produces information in the form of video or writing. One of these applications is Youtube. The study of the motive for watching or consuming YouTube content is an impulse that moves a person and stems from a need that must be fulfilled, so that motivation arises from self-awareness with an essential goal that is obtained by watching certain Youtube channels, in this case GadgetIn. For users or subscribers to the GadgetIn youtube channel, the motivation of subscribers to watch shows has several major motives, namely passing time, enjoyment, relaxation, information, and excitement, where passing time is related to enjoyment, relaxation, and excitement. Other motives such as companionship, social interaction, and escape are not the motives that make them see the Youtube Channel. This study also shows that passing time does not guarantee that social media users will get satisfaction in it without finding what they need or are looking for. Meanwhile, the motives for companionship, social interaction or about conversation, spontaneous and informal expression of ideas, occupy space in both the minds of participants and in the social realm that has been given space by Youtube with a comment column in each video does not make it too attractive for subscribers of the Youtube channel GadgetIn.
