Abstract

Music theory is a way used by musicians to understand and communicate the language of music. Musical theory is the study of music's fundamentals. It also provides an interpretation mechanism for musical pieces. Educational games are specifically intended or used to educate. Card games, board games, and computer games are all examples of such games. The trivia-game approach for educational games is fundamentally similar to a classic pedagogical tool: quizzes. Learning music theory does not have to be a time-consuming and difficult task. This game is intended and expected to be able to help people who are actively learning music theories on the beginner level to understand basic theories in music, recognize melodies and notation. The method that is used to conduct a research in the process of developing this educational game is the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC). Based on the tests that has been conducted with the Blackbox test and SUS test methods, it can be concluded that all functions and buttons in this educational game are running properly on the smartphone and PC (Personal Computer) devices through the web browsers that support HTML5 games. The system achieved the score of 84.65 in the SUS test and it shows that the game system is acceptable and can be helpful in the music theory learning process.
