Abstract

Background: Parents are the main role figures who take care of children from infanc y to adulthood. Parental knowledge about cancer related to early signs of cancer, it is very necessary for parents to know with good knowledge, it is hoped that the screening process is detected early so that treatment in children can be carried out immediately. Purpose: to find out whether there is a relationship between parental occupation and the level of parental knowledge about cancer. Method: This type of quantitative research with descriptive correlational design with a cross sectional approach, while the sampling technique used multistage random sampling technique, This study involved 92 mothers who had children aged 4-12 years . Instruments: using a demographic data questionnaire to find out the parents' occupation data, while the CAM (Cancer Awareness Measure) questionnaire was used to determine the level of parents' knowledge about child cancer. Statistical analysis used is Spearman Rank Test. Results: Shows that the majority of parents' occupations in the Baki Health Center area are housewives (55.4%) and those who have a moderate level of knowledge (39%), the Spearman Rank test results are 0.722 with a p-value of 0.000 which means there are The relationship between parental occupation and level of knowledge about childhood cancer. Conclusion: in this study there was a relationship between parental occupation and the level of parental knowledge about cancer in the Baki Sukoharjo Health Center area where the higher the parent's occupation, the higher the level of parental knowledge.
