Abstract
Corn is an important agricultural commodity for most of Indonesia's population, apart from food crops such as rice and wheat, corn is a source of carbohydrates. Corn has many benefits for the human body because it contains a lot of nutrients and is rich in fiber, the benefits of which are that corn can control sugar levels and facilitate digestion. Along with the increase in population in Indonesia, the need for corn plants will also increase. The need for land will increase for corn cultivation so that it requires land optimization for corn plants in a sustainable manner. This study aims to determine which land suitability classes for maize in jumapolo are suitable and which are not suitable for maize cultivation and to find out the limiting factors that affect the growth of corn plant. In this study using a field survey method including observation, recording, measurement of symptoms and phenomena on the object of research and followed by data processing using the matching method, which is to compare the guidelines for land class suitability class requirements with the result of research characteristics. The results of the study in Jumapolo District showed that the land suitability class for corn plants was in the S1 and S2 classes. The suitability class S1 is in the village Jatirejo, Lemahbang, Paseban, Kwangsan, Karangbangun, Bakalan, Jumapolo, Ploso and for the suitability class S2 in villlage Kedawung, Giriwondo, Jumantoro, Kadipiro. Limiting factors include soil depth and K2O content. Corn cultivation in Jumapolo District can be optimized by applying fertilizer in addition to K2O, and providing spacing between plants.
