Abstract

Micro hydro is a renewable power plant that uses water flow as a force to generate electricity. Using the same construction as hydropower, but the scale used is smaller because it is intended for less power. This renewable energy source is found in the surrounding environment, for example the source of the river flow used for irrigating rice fields, which can be used to produce electrical energy. This electrical energy can be used for lighting purposes in rice fields and roads, because mostly in rural areas, especially in rice fields, where there is a lack of supply of electrical energy sources. Where it requires a more expensive cost to make street lighting sourced from PLN, it is only used for lighting in the fields. Therefore, renewable energy sources such as PLTMH are made which are more efficient and less expensive to use as sources of electrical energy in the rice fields. In this study, the authors designed a renewable power plant to supply electricity in the form of lighting in the rice fields. This generator uses a Breastshot waterwheel type and uses a PMSG (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator) with a diode rectifier. The voltage limiting circuit system uses IC 7812 and tools for measurement in the form of a wattmeter and multimeter. The lamp load used in the test is a 12-volt DC lamp of 10 watts, 15 watts, 20 watts, and 25 watts. From the test results without using a load, it gets a voltage of 23,5 volts DC, with a waterwheel rotation of 33,9 rpm. The test results using all loads produce a voltage of 13,5 volts and a current of 0,37 A with a waterwheel rotating speed of 23,1 rpm. From the test data, it can be analyzed that the resulting voltage, the voltage will change following the rotation of the waterwheel which is affected by the flow of water, the output voltage of the voltage limiting circuit is relatively stable with different input voltages, the current and real power increase when the load power increases.
