Abstract

Kiai Dahlan's interpretation of surah al Ma'un became a legend for the early establishment of Muhammadiyah. Kiai Dahlan's interpretation model from textual to contextual made al Ma'un the spirit of empowering the community and helping orphans, the poor, which later this spirit was called al Ma'un Theology. This research use both field research in which all the process has strong connection with the field condition and the previous condition. Then, the researcher describes the implementation of al Ma'un's values in the history of the establishment of the Nur Hidayah Foundation which is in accordance with qualitative descriptive research that consists of historical facts and values brought by al Ma'un Theology. The results of this study explain that the history of the establishment of Nur Hidayah Foundation on 7th February 1992 has a very strong foundation, apart from H. Siswo Oetomo’s strong desire as the founder who always wants to stay close to orphans, and to devote himself to empowering the underprivileged surrounding communities, he indirectly has applied the core values of surah al Ma'un. This actions follow the spirit of KH. Ahmad Dahlan who also empowered the community to establish a large organization called Muhammadiyah. Furthermore, K.H Ahmad Dahlan's spirit is also carried out by H. Siswo Oetomo in organizing the community by establishing an Islamic institution called the Nur Hidayah Foundation.
