Abstract
The number of inductive loads used in Indonesia is increasing along with the increase in population. The use of this inductive load causes a decrease in the value of the power factor, where the value of the decreased power factor causes the available power supply cannot be used optimally. The standard minimum value for power factor set by PLN based on SPLN 70-1 is >0.85. The purpose of installing a capacitor bank is to improve the power factor value that has fallen. This study uses quantitative methods, namely manually processing data and using ETAP software by inputting the data obtained into the ETAP software. The research was conducted on SR 4 feeder PT. PLN (Persero) Manado. The calculation is carried out by collecting data on the capacity, load, and power factor of each distribution of the transformer on the SR 4 feeder. kVAr. In the simulation, the comparison of conditions before repair and before repair is seen in the average voltage drop which before repair is 0.92% and after repair it is 0.56%. Active power losses decreased from 9,253 kW before repair to 6,472 kW after repair. Meanwhile, reactive power losses decreased from 13,882 kVAr before repair and 9,706 kVAr after repair. That means increasing the power factor value can reduce the voltage drop and power losses, so that power can be used more optimally.
