Abstract

Currently, Indonesia's electricity is still dominantly dependent on fossil fuel sources. Utilization of alternative resources that are sustainable and renewable, can reduce the impact of limited fossil resources and environmental sustainability. Utilization of sunlight as an alternative / renewable energy source by utilizing solar cells into electrical energy through solar panels (photovoltaic solar), should be considered, given the abundance of solar radiation and does not cause pollutant effects. This study was intended to determine how the relationship between the intensity of sunlight and the output voltage of solar panels that have been used for Public Street Lighting (PJU) on the Selo sub-district road, Boyolali Regency. The use of solar panels in this PJU focuses on the effectiveness of performance in use. The solar panel used is a monocrystalline type with an offgrid system with a power of 100 Wp which will be measured to determine the intensity of sunlight, output voltage, and power within a predetermined period of time, which is for one week (7 days). The method uses direct solar intensity measurements and measurements of the output voltage and current, from 07:00 to 18:00 WIB. The results of this study indicate that the highest intensity of sunlight is at 115,800 Lux and the power is at 19.39 Watts, while the lowest intensity is at 11,400 Lux with a power of 11.76 watts. The data shows the relationship between light intensity and output power related to the value of increasing and/or decreasing the value of both.
