Abstract
Introduction : The prevalence of cancer in children is increasing every year due to the lack of parental knowledge to obtain information about cancer in children and the importance of early detection. One of the factors that influence knowledge is education. Parents with low levels of education are more difficult to receive information than parents with high levels of education. Objectives : This study generally aims to determine the relationship between the level of parental education and parental knowledge about cancer in children in the Baki Sukoharjo Health Center area and, the specific objectives are 1) Knowing the level of parental education about cancer in children, 2) Knowing the knowledge about cancer in children. parents about cancer in children, 3) Analyzing the relationship between parents' education level and parents' knowledge about cancer in children. Methods : This research is a descriptive correlation research with a cross sectional approach. A total of 92 mothers aged 4-12 years in the Baki Sukoharjo Community Health Center were involved, using a multistage random sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire consisting of demographic data which was used to assess the education level of parents, while the knowledge of parents was assessed using the Cancer Awareness Measure (CAM). Data analysis using Spearman's Rank test. Results : This study shows that (40.2%) of respondents are classified as having sufficient knowledge level with the highest education level of respondents being SMA (52.2%). Data analysis of education level with knowledge got p value = 0.000. Conclusion : There is a relationship between the level of parental education and parental knowledge about cancer in children in the Baki Sukoharjo Community Health Center.
